Creating The Perfect Look With Eyeshadow For Hazel Eyes

It's said that the eyes are the windows to the soul.  That may be true, but who's going to notice your eyes if they look plain and ordinary?  This doesn't mean you need to put on a lot of eyeshadow or eyeliner to make your eyes stand out. There are various techniques used to create different looks for your eyes.  One of the most popular trends today is to find application techniques to bring out the true color of your eyes.  Today, we will focus on eyeshadow for hazel eyes.

You don't have to be a makeup artist to learn the tricks of the trade.  It's a simple matter of having the right instructions and palette colors for your eye makeup.  Here's an overview of the various techniques used when applying.

Smoky

The smoky look is quite fashionable and is great for girl's night out or a date. The application should only take about 10 minutes to achieve.  For your hazel eyes you'll want to use colors that will bring out the color you want to show off in your eyes the most. Hazel eyes can have any combination of green, brown and blue within the iris. You want to use a nice combo of light base colors and rich darker colors applied on the lid and lower lashes avoiding going above the crease. Using black eyeshadow  is fine because this is a great eye color for just about any shadow.  The eyeliner should go all around the eyes and be thicker on the middle part of the eyelid. Apply several layers of mascara to complete the look.  You can get more details with a smokey eye makeup tutorial.

FYI: The best eyeshadow color for hazel eyes is green.

Dramatic

Eyeshadow for hazel eyes for a dramatic look doesn't have to mean lots of dark colored shadow.  Dramatic eyes are eyes that pop and this can be achieved in many ways.  For the purposes of this information we'll cover the basic cat eye dramatic look techniques.  Use a neutral or light base eye shadow shade (one shade only for this application).  You want this color to contrast your eye color and apply it to the eyelid and extend into the crease then up to the brow bone.  Use the same color and apply under the lower lashes from the inner to the outer eye corners.  You can also use a slightly darker shade under the lower lashes if you choose.

Eyeliner for this look should be dark brown or black and it should be as close to your eyelashes as possible.  Apply to the upper and lower lashline from the inner to the outer corners extending a bit beyond the upper eye corner for the cat eye look.  Use at least two coats maybe three of mascara for ultra dramatic looks.

Some general tips on eyeshadow for hazel eyes:  Blend, blend and blend eyeshadow and smudge eyeliner so it looks as natural as possible.

I always use green eyeshadow on my hazel eyes. It really does look better than any other color. It's also my favorite color, so that's even better. I like using eyeshadow crayons for eyeliner. It makes the color stand out.

Thanks for the tips. I really enjoy trying different designs, colors, and effects. Eventually, I want to go to school to become a make-up artist but for now, I just practice on myself.

The dramatic look is my favorite. The cat eyed technique is so pretty and feminine but it has a dangerous feel to it as well. I like it with a little more eyeliner.

These styles are nice but I'd like to see something that is a liitle lighter, using brighter colors. I like the soft, colorful look and it looks great on hazel eyed girls.

Great techniques! I love the one for smoky eyes but it doesn't take ten minutes to do. My first application was a little awkward but I got the hang of it and now it takes less than five minutes.
